The Bacchae - Theatre
Work undertaken as a second year design, textiles and construction project at the University of Huddersfield.
The Bacchae, originally a Greek play, tells the story of Greek God Dionysus, and his followers, the bacchae. Having studied a contemporary version of the text, my brief required me to incorporate a contemporary style, based around a Tudor silhouette, incorporating a corset and farthingale.
My interpretation of the brief is shown through the designs below, and through the photos of my construction project - the costume constructed based on my design for the Bacchae. The textiles samples below show experimentation for each character during development stages of the project.
